Throughout the history of man, there have always been
elements that were firmly embedded in the social structure and one of
them is the need to interact with one another. More than that, the need
to establish relationships has always been an important factor in human
lives. Even thinkers and philosophers have clearly established theories
that attest to this fact. Sociologist Abraham Maslow even came up with
a hierarchy of needs that all humans, regardless of race or creed, follow – more
unconsciously than consciously. In this hierarchy of needs, we will find
that the need to belong and to be loved is one of the most important
things that human beings seek out. Thus, it comes as no surprise that
since time immemorial, the seeking out of human company has been high
in the priorities of men and women all over the world.
